The concerns
In this age where the world is in a rush, worries and afflictions can assail us at any time due to unexpected news and events.
If we analyze our daily life we can see how part of it keeps us busy and distracted with the mind turned onto our interests and desires as a necessary condition to fill a void that doesn’t find an answer.
If we focus on this introspection it is possible to understand that it often gives us just a temporary peace. But, soon we will need to intensify our searches for something new because our old interests now no longer satisfy us.
When we are on the corner overwhelmed by the events, often with a painful feeling we ask ourselves: Where is God? Where is the justice of him? Why does all this happen, does it is really happening to me?
These questions certainly aren’t easy to comprehend but certainly, to have an answer it takes humility to accept that we need to be helped by the Lord who often we leave for last, and faith which is the step we take towards him who is always ready for supported us.
Why do I sometimes have the feeling that I am alone if it is supposed he is always with me?
We are never alone, he promises us that he is and always will be with us. Let’s be honest, are we fervent seekers of his face? Are we so careful to put into practice his precepts? Our ears are strained to listen and patiently we are waiting for his response?
Maybe not, and maybe these are just some of the reasons why we can’t hear his voice, and that’s why we can’t recognize his face, his holy presence.
The Lord speaks not only with an audible voice but also through sensations, inexplicable understanding, and supernatural guidance to discern difficult decisions to take, like a warmth that reassures us, that heat our heart, and at other times like a strange feeling that puts us on alert. Have you ever experienced it? Certainly are experienced already lived and often we are ready to give a fast explanation as if our fragile body made up of tissues, flesh, bones, and blood had its own intelligence, completely autonomous and independent. The reality is that something much greater lives inside of us and is completely able to understand, feel and hear the voice and guidance of the Creator.
“God is in Control”
The Lord sais us in Joshua 1: 9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
His blessing, grace and care is poured on those who listen to his precepts and teachings, who seek his face and his presence. The Lord speaks often to us but many times it happens that we do not pay attention on his voice.
When we pray, we speak to him, but when we read his word through the Gospel, he speaks to us.
To believe profoundly is not a simple experience, but are there most reliable ways onto based our hopes? Are there safer places to take refuge?? Are there any sweeter and more reassuring words than his?
Sometimes certainties collapse and suddenly things take a difficult turn as if something is raging against us. What is going on, we wonder. This is not normal! We exclaim … And at that moment we understand that something works against us.
But whay all this is happening? A possible answer is that we got distracted and forgot about him, we are trying to convince ourselves that we are here in this creation by causality and that we are the only ones who are able to keep everything under control, that everything depends only on our commitment and dedication to work. Now we are trying to convince ourselves that is our charisma, abilities, character, and strengths to overcome every problem, but then soon we realize with regret that this is not true. There is something wrong, the accounts do not add up!
What does the Son of God tell us about that
John 4:14
but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a source of water that gushes into eternal life
This passage suggests to us that the water he gives us is his word and it is a solid true, stable base on which to stand. When we have understood and accepted it, the Word will come to our aid in the most difficult moments, it will quench us in the desert of anxieties and worries.
Sometimes in some moments of our lives after being blasted and wounded, we started to waver and surrender, and without realizing it we’ve started to believe in someone we never seek, something inside of us has started to acclaim the Creator.
Suddenly faith changes, our hope increases, and the situation that seemed desperate take a new turn as if an intelligent force had listened to our despair and inexplicably changed the sortes trought a so perfect solution that it overcomes the best expectations. We ask ourselves with amazement and almost with a strange fear, what happened and we sincerely thank the one who listened to our desperation and has responded by helping us. But once again, we soon forget and go back to our routine distracted by daily commitments, activities, and concerns. We have already forgotten that a merciful hand has just thrown us a lifebuoy and brought us to shore. Maybe we are ready to throw ourselves back into the sea.
But He remains alert to pour on us his Holy Spirit and always ready to listen to our cry for help.
What we can do?
The apostle of Jesus suggests something to us in a simple way:
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Let’s seek The Lord always and first, deeply into our hearts and we will find him, nothing will lack and will receive even more than necessary.
Inevitably we will always suffer attacks from an invisible enemy, but certainly, the Lord will fulfill his promise and not will leave us alone, he will warn us and stretch out his hand to protect us and bring us to safety, and he will give his guidance and supernatural consolation in abundance.
